Description
MEDICOL powder is a veterinary medicine that is used to treat bacterial infections in farm animals and poultry. Colistin is a type of polymyxin antibiotic that is effective against a range of gram-negative bacteria, including Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp., and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Indications
In veterinary medicine, MEDICOL powder is typically administered orally to cattle, pigs, and poultry. It is used to treat respiratory tract infections, gastrointestinal tract infections, and urinary tract infections.
Composition
Each 1 gm contains:
Colistin
240 mg
Dosage
For oral administration via drinking water.
Calves, goats and sheep: Twice daily 1 gm per 40 kg bodyweight for 5-7 days.
Poultry and swine: 1 Kg per 2000-4000 litres of drinking water for 5-7 days.
Only sufficient medicated drinking water should be prepared to cover daily requirements.
Medicated drinking water should be replaced every 24 hours.
Note: for pre-ruminant calves and lambs only.
