The combination of lincomycin and spectinomycin acts against mainly Gram-negative bacteria.
Lincomycin has a bacteriostatic or bactericidal action against bacteria like Staphylococcus, Streptococcus and Treponema spp. Spectinomycin acts bacteriostatic or bactericidal, depending on the dose, against bacteria like Campylobacter, E. coli, and Salmonella spp. and against Mycoplasma.
Indications
In veterinary medicine, MEDLINSPECT powder is typically administered orally to cattle, pigs, and poultry. It is used to treat gastrointestinal and respiratory infections caused by micro-organisms sensitive to spectinomycin and lincomycin, such as Campylobacter, E. coli, Mycoplasma, Salmonella, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus and Treponema spp. in poultry and swine.
Composition
Each 1 gm contains:
Spectinomycin base 444 mg
Lincomycin base 222 mg
Dosage
For oral administration:
Poultry: 150 gm per 200 litres of drinking water for 5-7 days.
Swine: 150 gm per 1500 litres of drinking water for 7 days.
Note: Do not use in poultry producing eggs for human consumption.
